Assignment - A5
HVAC Variety
Numerical Parameters
As discussed, there are three types of high temperature radiant heaters, and the cost will vary accordingly depending on the capacity of each device. Each unit will vary in cost from $435.00 - $1325.00.
In Figure RH3, the top table summarizes the input, operating temperature, weight, clearance and mounting height of three types of heaters. From the table, the input can be seen to range from 30,000 to 200,000 BTU, which is a huge amount of the energy. As stated at the very beginning, different equipment will vary in different capacities, as well as the operating temperature, weight and so on.
The bottom table of Figure RH3 shows the different materials used in the fabrication of radiant heaters including response time, lifespan, efficiency, initial cost, installation difficulty, wavelength and material emissivity. After comparing each material, quartz lamps tend to have the quickest response time. Although, the lifespan of ceramic and metal-sheath is twice as long as quartz. Among all materials, metal-sheath seems to be cheapest and easiest to install.
Below in Figures RH4 and RH5 two products are highlighted and their numerical parameters are shown just as they would be shown in a product catalog for the typical consumer.
